Aspects of daily life
Studying
Information on the different types of further education and also the possible qualifications can be found in the section on Studying in Baden-Württemberg. You can find current information on studying and all the courses of studies in Baden-Württemberg under www.studieninfo-bw.de.
You can find the prerequisites required to be able to study under admission to the course of study. Alongside your school educational achievements, it is possible to become eligible for study by using the adult education or taking special examinations (e.g. examinations for gifted/talented persons as well as higher education admission). In this section you will also find information on the different types of selection procedures and the allocation of study places. Information covering the application for a place of study up to enrolment can be found in the corresponding procedure descriptions.
Information on what has to be considered in the case of changes during the course of study can be found in the section with the same name. This includes for example a duty to inform the institution of higher education (changes in personal details) or authorisation to take an absence of leave semester if you would like to interrupt your course of studies, but still want to remain registered.
Under Students Loans you will find out about the costs which will be incurred during the course of study and how you can claim grants and financial assistance for the duration of your studies. This includes, for example, tuition fees, administrative fees, student union contributions, special health and nursing care insurances for students and also scholarships and programs to promote talented/gifted students, which are offered by various institutions.
Other aspects of student life and what is offered by the Student Union are described in the section Social Matters. Furthermore, we offer tips and information on subjects such as
- Employment Agencies
- Housing benefit and special permit for subsidised housing or
- Child benefits
Foreign students, who plan to follow a course of study at an institution of higher education, university of applied sciences or Berufsakademie in Baden-Württemberg, will receive information in the appropriately titled section on the accreditation of foreign certificates and on residence permits for foreign students. Information in English on studying in Baden-Württemberg for foreign students can be found on www.study-guide-bw.com.
In the section Studying Abroad you will be guided from making preparations for your study to financing your stay abroad.
When it comes to finishing your course of study and to the first steps in your working life, we will also support you with information (e.g. leaving university by officially withdrawing as a student and assistance in looking for a job).
A list of links to additional information should simplify the individual research for your required course of study.
